Acquiring Aavegotchi Wearables
There are currently three ways to acquire Wearables. The first, and easiest, is to purchase them using the GHST Token in the Aavegotchi Baazaar. The second is to bid on Wearables during our GBM Bid-to-Earn Auctions. These will be announced well in advance so keep an eye out for information on the next auction! The final way to acquire Wearables is by entering Raffle Tickets into one of our Wearable NFT raffles.
Choosing the Right Wearables for Your Aavegotchi
Wearables come in six different rarities. Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary, Mythical, and Godlike. Common Wearables increase your Aavegotchi’s Base Rarity Score (BRS) by one, Uncommon by two, Rare by five, Legendary by 10, Mythical by 20, and Godlike by 50.
Choosing which Wearable is right for your Aavegotchi depends on their traits. In addition to the BRS increase based on rarity, Wearables can modify four of your Aavegotchi’s traits: Aggressiveness, Energy, Spookiness, and Brain Size.
Some Wearables will decrease your traits while others will increase your traits. It is important to remember that adding a Wearable that decreases a trait does not mean the trait is getting weaker. Aavegotchi traits are distributed on a bell curve, so being closer to the extremes (0 and 1) and (99,100) is the most desirable. As a general rule of thumb, you always want to move your traits farther from 50 (dead center) to maximize rarity.
For example, an Aavegotchi with the following traits: Aggression: 90, Energy: 87, Spookiness: 11, and Brain Size: 7 would benefit from Wearables that increase Aggression and Energy, but decrease Spookiness and Brain Size. On the other hand, it would be counter-productive to add Wearables that decrease Aggression and Energy, but increase Spookiness and Brain Size to a Aavegotchi with these trait scores.
Choosing Wearables that go well with your Aavegotchi’s traits will increase their BRS more than if you focus on the BRS increase just from the Wearable rarity alone. Let’s take the ETH Logo Glasses Wearable as an example. This is a common Wearable which comes with a BRS bonus of +1. This Wearable also modifies the Brain Size trait of any Aavegotchi using it by -1. Purchasing this Wearable for an Aavegotchi with a Brain Size of 98 would be counter productive. The BRS bonus of +1 would be washed out by moving the Brain Size farther from the high end of the bell curve. Therefore, adding this Wearable to an Aavegotchi with a brain size greater than 50 would have no effect on BRS. Adding this Wearable to an Aavegotchi with a brain size below 50, however, would increase BRS by +2. One for the bonus of +1 and an additional +1 because it moves the Brain Size trait closer to the low end of the bell curve.
Of course you could elect to ignore all of this and simply purchase Wearables for the aesthetics. This is not the best practice from a rarity farming standpoint, but everyone has their own strategies and preferences!
Wearable Sets
Equipping certain Wearables together on your Aavegotchi comes with a “set bonus.” The set bonus increases the effect on BRS beyond the increase from each individual Wearable. Other Benefits
Since the passing of Aavegotchi Improvement Proposal 9 (AGIP 9), Wearables also have voting power in the AavegotchiDAO. The voting power of a Wearable is based on its rarity type. Common Wearables have 5 GHST voting power, Uncommon 10 GHST, Rare 100 GHST, Legendary 300 GHST, Mythical 2,000 GHST, and Godlike 10,000 GHST.
