What is Rarity Farming?
Rarity farming is a unique game mechanism developed by Aavegotchi and designed to reward the most engaged users within the Aavegotchi ecosystem. Rarity farming participants compete in three categories: Rarity, Kinship, and XP. Rewards are paid out in GHST token, directly to the Aavegotchi's own pocket!
How to Participate
To participate in Rarity Farming you must first obtain an Aavegotchi NFT. Once you have found your perfect fren, you will want to do everything you can to improve your Gotchi’s rarity, kinship, and XP.
Rarity is changed by equipping Wearables and spending Spirit Points. Wearables can be purchased in the Aavegotchi Baazaar. When you’re trying to improve your Aavegotchi’s rarity score, it is important to select Wearables that are compatible with your Gotchi’s traits. Spirit points are earned through leveling up as Aavegotchis earn XP. Every three levels awards one Spirit Point, which can be used to improve one of your Aavegotchi’s traits.
Kinship can be improved in two ways. The first is simply to pet your Aavegotchi twice a day, once every 12 hours. The second is by consuming kinship potions purchased in the Aavegotchi Baazaar. Aavegotchis lose one kinship point for every 24 hours they go without being pet, so be sure to pet your Gotchis!
There are various ways to earn XP that come up from time-to-time including attending community events, participating in governance by voting in the AavegotchiDAO, and minigame XP events. You can also earn XP for your Aavegotchi by purchasing XP potions in the Aavegotchi Baazaar. Another way to earn XP is by sacrificing an Aavegotchi and transferring its XP to another. Although, you’d have to be a monster to consider this option!
Rarity Farming Play-to-Earn Rewards
Rarity Farming takes place over an eight week period. During this event, the rarest Aavegotchis across each of the three categories will receive a distribution of GHST rewards. Rarity farming rewards are distributed on a descending curve with top Aavegotchis receiving the highest rewards.
The proportion of rewards allocated to each category is decided by the AavegotchiDAO. As Aavegotchi evolves, more categories may be added. In order to fund Rarity Farming, 40% of all GHST spent on primary sales is redirected to the Rarity Farming rewards pool.
Rewards are distributed every two weeks during Rarity Farming, through onchain snapshots. After each snapshot, GHST rewards will appear in your Aavegotchi’s pocket. You can choose to leave the GHST in the pocket, or transfer it to your wallet.

Here are a few tips to help you get your Aavegotchis ready to compete in Rarity Farming and watch your GHST balance grow!
- Purchase Wearables that compliment your Gotchi’s stats whenever you can and if possible, try to complete a Wearable set for an extra boost to base rarity score.
- Set a reminder on your phone or use a petting operator to ensure your Aavegotchi is pet twice a day.
- Stay active in the Aavegotchi community to stay alert of changes to the Aavegotchi ecosystem and XP events to help level up your Aavegotchi.
