This week’s spotlight features one of the most prominent organizations in the Gotchi space! We’re of course talking about Gotchiverse Media International, or GMI for short. GMI is a group focused on uniting community members and leveraging their unique and creative skill sets for the good of the Gotchiverse. We sat down with Mycaleum for a look at the inner workings of GMI and to learn more about their plans and goals in the Gotchiverse!

Questions

Q. Can you please give a brief introduction about GMI?

A. We are an open-entry organization focused on empowering the public goods sector of the Gotchiverse. Our mission is to pool and deploy creative resources to spread the good Gotchi Gospel. Join us in helping educate and inform all ghosts of the Realm!

Q. What’s the story behind the GMI name? What does the acronym stand for?

A. We were lucky to secure this gem. GMI stands for Gotchiverse Media International but meme-mirrors perfectly with the classic Gonna Make It sentiment. But wait, there’s meta in the meme because as a primarily content creation focused guild, we definitely are gonna make it.

Q. How large is the guild right now? Are you actively expanding?

A. 431 server members at this time, which is a great feat from the humble 6-7 initial members. We have 9 gnosis safe signers, 36 Def GMI roles and 131 members of the GMI Street Team. You’ll often see Ecosystem leaders from many prominent guilds in our diverse group. We are always actively expanding and since we aren’t a gaming focused guild, no wearable is required to be a member, only interest and participation.

Q. Why did you decide to join the Aavegotchi ecosystem

A. Because the product is solid. The Pixelcraft team as well as the AavegotchiDAO continue to demonstrate their ability to provide a different caliber of experience and interaction than other current NFT projects and communities. The Saturday Hangout track record, the organic commitment from the community to create recurring programming surrounding the central Aavegotchi platform, the Github boards of the devs at PC and within our community, and for many moar reasons than this, I was inspired to taste the water and drink from the Aavegotchi well. It has been refreshing.

Q. If you could describe Aavegotchi in three words, what would they be?

A. True Gaming Ownership

Q. What aspect or feature of the Gotchiverse are you most excited for?

A. Social layer baby! As a creators’ group, GMI is most excited to see the introduction of features such as the FAKEgotchi series and in-game NFT displays. Installations that consume $ALPHA, that’s where we wanna be. Moonshooting for Gotchi Radio and the Gotchi News Network. Excited to see bounce gates, pvp, in-game mail systems, local vocal chat, video streaming, NPC SDK, the list only grows…

Q. As a guild, what’s the most difficult thing you’ve ever encountered?

A. Defining prioritizations of members’ commitments is the first answer. The second answer is extended goods delivery windows.

The first is in regards to determining who commits to what role while we are in a pre-DAO admin group stage I like to call a SADO or semi-autonomous decentralized organization. We aren’t fully autopilot by any means but do stay nimble.

The second is regarding the Artist Summit NFTs that took waaaaaaaay longer to finalize distribution than ever anticipated. We are eternally thankful to our community supporters who whilst maintaining frequent inquiry, never became downtrodden or difficult with our extended delay. It wouldn’t be Web3 without a lil miscalculation in the mix tho, right?

Q. What are GMI’s goals for the Gotchiverse?

A. To help inspire, produce and cover the best creative work in the Gotchiverse. We have evolved and grown into a production house able to assist in almost any manner of Aavegotchi Ambition and we are excited to help cultivate the next rarity season of good ideas, projects, creations and games.

Q. Where do you see NFT Gaming in the next year?

A. First there were just “hold ‘em” assets. Gotchi’s lived here once. Then with the Gotchiverse, and similar breakthroughs elsewhere, we have a space to occupy. The next evolution we’d like to see is to allow authentic interaction within this space. Let’s see some forward leaps in PVP and potential open world mini, or major, quests. Let’s start to do some in gameplay coverage beyond faarming.

Q.  What do you like most about Aavegotchi?

A. I hope I speak for all of GMI here. We are here for the frens. We aren’t looking for the biggest ROI, best wearables, largest parcels or deepest farms. We are looking for the stories, the creators, the folks who recognize the beauty of organic $GLTR when they see it.

Q. What qualities does your Guild look for in a scholar? Are there any requirements in terms of time and hardware that they must meet?

A. We have currently halted our Scholar onboarding process until there is more than channeling for them to do. However we still let people in and educate them on Aavegotchi and let them reserve their spot for future openings. Our existing scholars attend spillover events and channel/empty reservoirs daily.

Q. Is guild decision making decentralized, or do leaders/high ranking members make the decisions?

A. Our leadership is tiered in approach. There is an interior high ranking GMI Admin team, made up of myself, Hefe, Thrax, Aaperon, Zombie Shepard and 0xZFi. These individuals stepped up for the heaviest lifting needed to keep GMI ticking and tocking with daily and administrative ops, without wide-scale organizational awareness or input, but at levels that do not impact the GMI treasury in substantial ways. We have 36 Def GMI members who are consulted when major treasury decisions are to be made.

Q. How would you describe your guild’s Gotchiverse strategy in just one word?

A. Encompassing

Q. Any big guild events planned?

A. Wen Gotchiverse Buidlers Hackathon???

Q. How can potential members contact you about joining?

A. Best place is at the source: https://discord.gg/gmifrens
